New Year (2018) Message

OFFICIAL NEW YEAR MESSAGE 2019:

(Office of the Country Representative - Nigeria)

AFRICAN YOUTH FOR DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (AYDEC)

- Message of Hope, Peace and Progress

Just with the minutest change of time, we are here in a new year.  It's a new day, a new week, a new month and a new year 2019. A renewed hope it is for all.

We give thanks to God for sparing our lives till date.

Undoubtedly, to all of us at African Youth for Development Commission (Nigeria), the last five (5) months at a stretch (in 2018) was a clip of mixed experience; the good and the bad, success and challenges, hopes and successive fulfilments. No matter how it appeared to us as individuals and a people, the fact is that our hope has been restored in a new year. We strongly believe this year 2019 will be filled with positivism, success stories, giant strides of achievements and unmatched synergy towards Unity and developing the Youths of our dear country, Nigeria, the continent (Africa) and the world at large.

Notably, AYDEC in 2018, being its foundational year, had successfully established formidable structures with resourceful youths across the 36 States of Nigeria (FCT Abuja inclusive). More importantly, the core mantra of AYDEC is to #chart_a_new_cause_of_action_for_African_development - the systemic discharge of this responsibility will commence this year with official Flag-Off of activities across the country and the continent at large.

May I use this medium to intimate that AYDEC will establish its National Consortium across Africa, up from year 2019.

Precisely, after the receipt of 427 applications across the continent, AYDEC has carefully selected its pioneer Country Representatives and is set to announce commencement of activities in 30 African countries, while others are being reviewed. The Country Representatives will be officially confirmed and the list get published on our website in a couple of days.

Consequently and in furtherance of the aforementioned, 2019 will be a year of unequalled commitment, assiduous passion and consistent activities towards developing the stronghold of Africa (the youth) and the continent at large.

At African Youth for Development Commission, we are set to make this year better than the previous. We shall make our youths the continental pride and Africa a proud destination for all.

As we commence our journey through this new year, our foremost message to African youths across the globe is to eschew violence, embrace peace and preach peaceful coexistence in speech and in action, as these are core prerequisites towards attaining sustainable development and the Africa We Want.

Regardless of our ideologies, religious beliefs, cultural differences, regional divides, political inclinations and even organizational policies, AYDEC calls on all resourceful youths across Africa to join in its mission to redefine development and synergize towards implementing the African Union Agenda 2063. With this, Africa will thrive in positivism and progress.

Another major activity of AYDEC will center on the forthcoming General Elections in Nigeria. We therefore call on all youths to rigorously step up strategies, campaigns and pragmatic actions against the trending '#Vote_Trading'.

Vote buying and selling are inimical to our progress and against the Pan-African ideals of true democrats. The success of the forthcoming elections is our collective success. Let's eschew violence and also take ownership of Nigeria as our core project.

Notably, I wish to state unequivocally that AYDEC had been confirmed as a strategic partner in the "#VoteNotFight_Campaign". We'll be working close with #YoungstarsFoundation, #2FaceIdibia Foundation, #INEC, #NDI and other relevant authorities towards ensuring purposeful youth engagement in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections.

Though 2018 was indeed an eventful and remarkable year, we can make 2019 better.

Gratitude and foremost appreciation to AYDEC Team, Advisory Board Members, State Coordinators, strategic partners, well-wishers  and other Stakeholders for their invaluable commitment, relentless efforts and strategic approach towards actualizing the real vision of AYDEC and ultimately developing the young people of Africa in the previous year.

May I at this juncture also appreciate the unprecedented sacrifice of some individuals who stood by AYDEC Team at the inception in the previous year (2018). You all stood by the truth, believed in progress and we worked it out in the sole interest of the entire African youths. Though the list is beyond mention, I say a million thanks to all of you.

We also appreciate the Federal Government of Nigeria, National Assembly, State Governors as well as all corporate organizations, Government agencies well-wishers and other teeming Youths both at home and in the diaspora for their support towards a memorable year 2018.

On behalf of the entire members of African Youth for Development Commission (AYDEC), I hereby call on the Federal Government of Nigeria, African Heads of States and other relevant institutions to step up efforts towards improving lives of the people via economic growth, creating jobs, improving the living Standard, improved infrastructural development, provision of basic amenities, health care provision and further sustaining peace and security of lives amongst other basic needs of the citizenry.

May this new year 2019 bring forth a new dawn of grace and prosperity to our dear continent (Africa), its residents and humanity at large.

I wish you all a blissful, prosperous and splendid new year 2019.

Thanks.

Signed:
